December 2024

Dear Parents,

I hope you and your family had a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. In November, the children made Native American headbands and Pilgrim hats they wore at our Thanksgiving Feast. We read books, sang songs, and played some fun games.

For a fun Thanksgiving activity, both parents and children decorate their own apple turkey. We used real apples and various colors of cheerios for the turkey feathers.

Reading:
In December, we will review all our Letter Friends that we have learned so far since September. This month, the children will meet, Mr. S, with his super socks, Mr. V. with his violet velvet vest, and Ms. E, who likes to exercise. The children have been introduced to uppercase and lowercase letters and their sounds. Social Studies: In November, the children learned about Thanksgiving, the Pilgrims, Native Americans, and Election Day. We learned about the Pilgrims journey to America, and the First Thanksgiving with the Native Americans who became friends with the Pilgrims.

For election day, the children voted for their favorite cookies and dropped their votes in our voting box. We learned where the president lives, and concluded this unit with several crafts. We sang various songs, and read books all pertaining to Thanksgiving, and election day. This month, we will be learning about Hanukkah, and Christmas. We will learn how each of these holidays are celebrated, read books, sings songs, dance to holiday music, and play some fun games to celebrate.

Art and Cooking: In November, we created various art projects to go along with Thanksgiving. and Election Day. This month, we will continue to create individual and expressive art projects related to Hanukkah and Christmas. For our Thanksgiving Feast, the children helped prepare mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie in a cup. This month, the children will be whipping something delicious for Hanukkah, and Christmas.
