April Newsletter 2025

Dear Parents:
Welcome Spring! Hopefully, we can begin to enjoy many beautiful Spring days. With the wormer days approaching, we plan to spend as much time outside as possible, taking walks, exploring nature, and playing on the playground. This month, we have so many fun things planned in room 21.
Last. Month, we had a visit from a little Leprechaun who left a mess in our classroom.
Reading:
So far in reading, we have met so many letter friends. In April, we will continue reviewing the letters we previously learned and meet new friends. This month, we will meet Ms. O who is obstinate and loves opposites, and Mr. K who loves to kick. The children are doing a great job identifying their sounds, and look forward each day to greeting our new letter friends.
Social Studies:
During the month of March, the children were introduced to the season of Spring, St. Patricks Day, Italy, and all about the African Elephant. In March, we read books, and learned important facts about African elephants, and why they are an endangered species. We had fun singing and doing an elephant dance. For International week, the children were introduced to the country of Italy. The children learned simple facts about Italy, learned simple words, what language is spoken, and how we get there.
In April, we will be learning about Earth Day, why it's important to take care of our Earth, how to keep our planet clean, and discuss the 3Rs.

The children will sort different items and place them in the correct buckets accordingly. Each of the buckets will be labeled: paper, plastic, glass, and aluminum.

This month, we will also learn about Easter, and Passover. We will learn on how each of these holidays are celebrated.
This month, the children will start on a Mother's Day project, and a gift for someone very special.
Art and Cooking:
To celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday, the children made a "Cat in the Hat" snack with bananas and strawberries, for Italy, we made English muffin pizza, for spring, the children made a flower shaped fruit snack using carrots, bananas, grapes, and other healthy fruits. This month, we will continue making delicious healthy snacks for Earth Day, Passover, and Easter.
Math and Science:
For math, we will continue to review numbers 6-10. We will compare and learn two-and-three-dimensional shapes, which include square, circle, rectangle, triangle, cone, cube, sphere, and cylinder. The children will learn each of the shapes, sides and corners. For science, the children enjoyed using flashlights and learning about light and shadows. We learned about transparent, translucent, and opaque. We used different objects to see which ones would let the llight pass through them when shining a flashlight. To further our science lesson, and have some fun, we took the children outdoors, read a book on light and shadows and let the children have fun finding their shadows on the ground.
In April, we will be learning about SOUND. We will learn about vibrations that travel through the air and can be heard when it reaches the ear. We will discover all the many things around us that make sound. We will learn that not all objects make sounds, and sound can be loud or soft.
The children will enjoy and participate in our upcoming science experiments to go along with our unit on SOUND.
